Job Title: Health and Safety Apprentice
Job Location: Redditch, Worcestershire
Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Health and Safety pprentice. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a range of administration support to the Health and Safety team to achieve a safe working environment for all people and property affected by our operations.
The Successful Applicant will:
- English GCSE Grade 4/C, Level 2 Functional Skills, or equivalent
- Mathematics GCSE Grade 4/C, Level 2 Functional Skills, or equivalent
- Strong organisational skills and good time management
- Clear communication skills, both written and verbal
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills
- The ability to take responsibility and get things done independently
- Friendly and helpful – happy to support others and go the extra mile
- Valid UK Driving licence (desirable)
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Preparation of new project documentation packs including site folders for new and existing sites.
- Complete onboarding competence, and other checks, for new operatives and for existing operatives who move sites and/or change duties.
- Monitor and action expiring site qualifications using relevant training matrices.
- Coordinate the bookings of any health and safety competence training for the workforce.
- Update Chime and the company training matrix with any relevant certificates i.e. face fit and abrasive wheels.
- Produce accurate reports as requested by the H&S Manager, Advisors and site teams where required.
- Maintain health and safety record systems ensuring accurate data entry.
- Logging all accidents, strikes and quality assurance.
- Be available to respond to department requests and enquiries.
- Responsible for overseeing PPE requirements across sites and regional offices.
- Other administrative duties as assigned.
What We Offer
- A structured apprenticeship programme in our Health and Safety function leading to a Safety, Health and Environment Technician Level 3 qualification.
- You’ll gain experience through both on-the-job learning and off-the-job training. Depending on the training provider, this could include college day release, online workshops, and regular assessor visits.
- Exposure to learn across our Health and Safety team within a construction environment.
- Opportunities to grow your career with us once you successfully complete the apprenticeship.
Package
o Contract Type: Apprentice
o Weekly Hours: 07:30 to 16:30 (we are open to discussing reasonable adjustments)
o Holiday Allowance: 23 days plus bank holidays, with additional holiday based on service. For part-time employees, holiday entitlement will be calculated on a pro-rata basis.
